Being famous has its perks but at the same time there are many downsides to it too. For example, being key targets of unethical people’s greed.

Unfortunately for Song Hye Kyo and her family, they had to go through the horror of being threatened for money.

It wouldn’t have been too bad if it was just revealing a secret or something. But the blackmailer said he would splash acid on them if they refuse to do so!

In a recent episode of Poongmon Show from Channel A, Hye Kyo revealed the whole story which took place in January 2005, Koreaboo reported.

The actress’ mother received a letter from an unknown person demanding for KRW250 million (RM912,000). If they refuse to give him the money, he will use acid to attack them.

The letter read,

“If you don’t send me 250 million KRW, then I’ll pour acid on you and Song Hye Kyo’s body.

“If you don’t want to see your daughter’s body rotting and melting for the rest of your life, then you should really think about it.

“I’ve already prepared large amounts of hydrochloric acid and hallucinogens.”

At that time, Hye Kyo was only 24 years old!

Of course, the worried mother quickly moved her daughter to a different location and reported the incident to the police.

The most shocking part was that the person who sent that terrifying letter was none other than Hye Kyo’s ex-manager!

This was revealed after a thorough police investigation. However, because Hye Kyo’s family treated him as part of their own family, the mother just could not accept that the culprit was him. She cried horribly when she heard the news.

“That’s just not possible. I don’t believe it.”

Apparently, the manager has always had some money issues. He was fired from Hye Kyo’s agency at the time because he was not reporting the commission he earned from her photo-shoots. Instead, he used the money personally.

Obviously, after he laid off from the company, he was struggling financially. He lived in various public bathhouses for quite sometime until one day he saw how well Hye Kyo was doing.

Desperation drove him into blackmailing and threatening the family this way. All for the sake of money.

But the man is lucky because Hye Kyo’s mother just refuses to press any charges because she still couldn’t accept the fact that the ex-manager would do such a thing.
