Life wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine for Nam Joo Hyuk. The actor with a gorgeous smile went through tough times during his childhood.
In fact, things didn’t really get better until only recently.
On September 19th, 2018, Nam Joo Hyuk guested Radio Star and revealed that he actually grew up in a poor family.
He explained,
“In the past, my family had a difficult time and it was really hard. In 3rd grade, I ate cup noodles for a year. We didn’t even have a bathroom in our home.”
Fellow actor Jo In Sung who was also a guest said,
“Joo Hyuk ended up crying while talking with Cha Tae Hyun hyung.”
Joo Hyuk continued,
“I don’t know why but I suddenly cried. My situation wasn’t that great to age 21 even when I was modelling. Things got a bit better after School 2015.”
Of course, all his hard work and endurance paid off as his career took off well. Now, he is able to treat his parents to lots of things and even make donations to his school.
He added,
“My mum is able to comfortably use the credit card now.”
Goes to show that even celebrities went through hardships before.
