On January 5th, 2019, a random page called EGG GANG (@world_record_egg) appeared on Instagram and posted a picture of an egg, asking for likes.
But of course, this egg wanted more than just a bunch of double taps from the IG community, it wanted to beat Kylie Jenner‘s first photo with her daughter, Stormi.
The picture of the mother and daughter is truly significant especially after how the celebrity had kept her pregnancy a secret. Kylie even did her best to avoid the baby bump being caught by paparazzi!
She only revealed the truth after giving birth to the cute little Stormi on February 1st, 2018. Obviously, fans were eggstatic about the addition to the Kardashian/Jenner family.
The picture of Stormi holding onto Kylie’s perfectly manicured thumb garnered approximately 18.2 million likes over the past year and has held the title of Most Liked Photo on Instagram ever since.
Until this egg came along, that is.
The picture of the light brown chicken egg read,
“Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this ?”
Soon enough, it went viral and in less than 10 days, has garnered 22.8m likes!
Seeing as her gorgeous and meaningful picture has been out-liked by a simple egg, Kylie posted a video of herself in response to the entire scenario.
In the video, she can be seen holding and egg and saying “First let’s feel the ground. Ok, that’s really hot.” Then it cuts to her cracking the egg open onto the tar road.
Her caption reads,
“Take that little egg.”
Though she was just cracking a joke, a lot of internet people are writing some pretty mean comments in response to her.
Some of them said,
“Jealousy”
“You snapped, queen.”
“Oh, you mad.”
Some netizens even tried egging her on by instigating ‘war’ between her and the egg. Meanwhile, a voice of reason said,
“You should have cracked it into a pan on the stove and ate it lol ?”
It seems like this whole egg thing has started a craze because a bunch of “egg” accounts suddenly popped out claiming to be the famed one though not as successful.
