In 2016, Dennis Lau & Friends brought upon a great concert titled The Phoenix Rising.

The music maestro Dennis Lau is bringing together an ensemble of multi-genre Malaysian artistes for the next chapter of Dennis Lau & Friends this year!

Themed ‘THE CHOSEN’, the highly-anticipated full-scale mega concert by the multi-award winning violinist will be show produced by Jennifer Thompson and musically directed by Aubrey Suwito – whose names are synonymous with the highest quality international shows.

Happening on the 29th of June, 2019, at Mega Star Arena @ Viva Mall, the audience can enjoy an array of performances by amazing artists.

They are Aisyah Aziz, Jeryl Lee, Dewi Seriestha, Lee Elaine, Jimmy Sax, Dennis Yin, NAMA and Fara Dolhadi. Plus, there will also be a mystery guest artiste whom will be announced soon.

THE CHOSEN is inspired by Dennis Lau’s ‘Give Back’ movement in collaboration with Teach For Malaysia.

It is a representation of a musically and spiritually mature Dennis, who aims to transport his audience to a limitless world of opportunities, love, peace and equality.

The ‘Give Back’ movement includes a masterclass and mentorship programme for selected students through Teach For Malaysia.

Dennis Lau’s journey towards becoming an accomplished musician was birthed from a humble circumstance of academic failure and a mother’s persevering love

He said,

“My mother taught me the piano from the age of 3, and at the age of 7 I picked up the violin.

“I am where I am today because I had people who believed in me, who encouraged me and who provided me with opportunities.

“I have made my mark in the industry and I feel strongly that it is now time for me to give back through providing opportunities in music.

“My collaboration with Teach For Malaysia (TFM) enables me to do just that – empowering deserving children with the opportunities to pursue music.

“This concert is called ‘THE CHOSEN’ because we are all chosen for a specific purpose in our lives, to contribute for the greater good.

“And we are delighted to go on a musical journey with the students who have been ‘chosen’ – to inspire and provide them with the platform to discover their musical talents.”

“Our students are honoured to be selected to perform the song that Dennis composed for them during ‘THE CHOSEN’ concert.”

The four students from TFM will be performing a song especially composed by Dennis for them, titled ‘Esok’ on the concert day.

A portion of ticket proceeds from the concert will go to Teach For Malaysia to support its mission to end education inequity.
